Paige 270SSG Surge Guard Lightning Arrester. This lightning arrester is designed to protect Irrigation decoder two-wire paths and solenoids from power and lightning surges. It can also be used to protect Landscape Lighting fixtures. Irrigation industry solenoids were found to fail when exposed to an 8/20 micro-second pulse of 10,000 volts, or less. The addition of the Paige Electric Surge Guard allowed the same solenoids to survive a pulse of 20,000 volts. (Note: The TORO Spike-GuardTM solenoid survived at 20,000 volts, on its own.)
